Every Saturday, millions of people around the world participate in a one year reading cycle of the Bible. This tradition originates in Judaism and was kept by the Savior and the early believers. Call it the original water-cooler conversation. It isn't a vain repetition of man but an inspired tradition that was handed down from Moses and supported by Paul.
"What special privilege, then, has a Jew? The privilege is great from every point of view. First of all, because the Jews were entrusted with the word," Romans 3:1,2. In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses spoke the commandments aloud to the people as an example. He then told the new nation of redeemed slaves to read the Word aloud. Later Ezra the Scribe instituted reading the Scriptures aloud as well. The Newer Testament continues this theme when it teaches that "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word." Without the Bible being read aloud and discussed it is difficult for faith to truly set in. "Give attendance to the reading of Torah, to exhortation, to teaching," says 1 Timothy 4:13. This book gives an in depth look into the Torah portion from a viewpoint that keeps the Messiah in mind. Each week you will read a quick overview, find ways to apply the Torah to your life, learn about the Messiah in the Torah, and use many discussion questions to peak your interest. Open your Bible and use this guide to learn all about the truth of the faith.
